what it's like right about now

Am I pregnant? I wonder if I'm pregnant. Do I look pregnant? I think I'm pregnant. I think I'm not pregnant. I think I am. I hope I am. I don't know if I am. I could be. Am I?

It's a week until I can take the test. Maybe more than a week. Maybe a week's good. I'll decide in a week, when I'll do it. I'll do it as soon as I can. I'll wait to do it until the test would be more definitive. I'll do it on Sunday. Wednesday. Thursday. Monday. No, Sunday.

Yeah, I probably am. I doubt I am. Relax. Relax. I should relax.

P.S. Finn today, to me:

I want to hold your face. (He holds it.)
I want to pick it up. (He pats it.)
I want to take it off you. (!)

The first time I got pregnant, I called it my "hysterical pregnancy." It took weeks for me to actually take a test, so convinced was I that it was all in my head since I wanted a baby very badly.

The second time, I thought, "I feel pregnant"; I had no specific "symptoms." It wasn't anything more than a vague sense. And sure enough, I was right. We weren't trying at all.

The third time, we weren't trying either, and I had no clue. My pants were getting really tight around the waist despite all the exercise, and my husband, very jokingly, suggested perhaps I was pregnant. He was right.

In between #2 and #3, I was so convinced I was pregnant I went through six pregnancy tests in 10 days before finally conceding that I was wrong.

So, in sum: You might be pregnant. On the other hand, you might not.

Yeah as you know I wanted to be pregnant so badly that I couldn't stand that 2 week wait. i would take the test 2-3 days before i was supposed to get my period. i was spending so much on those stupid tests and i was never pregnant. every time it told me i wasn't pregnant i would get so upset. finally i made a rule that i could only take the test 3 days after i was supposed to start my period. that made me much more calm. of course you seem to get knocked up pretty easily...

Well I happen to know if you are pregnant or not. But you have to wait three days before I will tell you.

As a member of the mainstream media, I would like to announce that baseless speculation season has begun. Adam Nagourney, Wolf Blitzer, Sylvia Poggioli, you may begin now.

The only sure-fire way to tell if you're pregnant, other than the test, is a craving for Taco Bell crisp beef tacos. At least that was our experience...

Me: Betty now you know you're not allowed to throw your crayons all over the place. Help mommy put them back in...

Betty: Oh Mommy I love you so much.

(pause)

Me: That's super Betty but we're still picking up your crayons.

This morning.
Betty: This is Mommy's body.

Me: Yep that's true.

Betty: Ok, Mommy's body. (pats my tummy)
